CEC: protest on election day can break the law

MOSCOW, 7 Aug. /TASS/. The protest on the day of elections could violate election laws. This was reported by TASS on Tuesday, Deputy Chairman of the CEC of the Russian Federation Nikolay Bulaev.

“It hardly fits in with existing legislation. For such events it is necessary to choose another day, not a single day of voting,” said Bulaev.

According to the law on the Saturday before the day of voting comes the so-called day of silence, when prohibited any agitation. The ban ends just after the polls closed Sunday evening.

In a single day of voting will be direct elections of governors in 22 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and indirect elections of heads of four regions will elect deputies of the legislative Assembly on representation of the President. In 16 subjects the elections of deputies of legislative Assembly, 12 – elections of city councils of regional centers. Will also be additional elections to the state Duma for seven single-member districts in six regions and many municipal elections.
